I'm gonna be honest with you, I've been watching a LOT of Made in Chelsea lately. And of course, Rimmel London sponsor the show. What I'm saying works, okay?

After the whole Lime Crime scandal, I've been looking for alternative lippys. I prefer a matte look, so I decided to give Rimmel Apocalips a try. I really love the velvety texture of the product. It doesn't feel cakey at all, and the pigment payoff is stellar for such an affordable product.

My only complaint is longevity. This lippy didn't survive my morning coffee. The good news is, touchup is quick and easy, and it doesn't leave my lips feeling all gross and crusty (who wants that?!).

I styled this look two ways. First, with absolutely no other makeup whatsoever. I wanted to look a bit more put together than a fully naked face while running errands, and I like how BOLD the lippy looks when it's the only product I'm wearing. Second, I styled it with full makeup for a night out, including bold brows, a dark eyeshadow contour, winged black eyeliner, and thick, layered on mascara.

The verdict: I give Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquer in Meteoric Matte an 8/10. Lovely, strong colour, but I would love a bit more longevity from it.

Available from Boots and Superdrug.
