What I Wore: Hippie Girl

3 Mar 2016

UK plus size fashion blogger AmandaApparel shares her 70s inspired hippie look in this monochromatic outfit post, featuring New Look and Forever 21 Plus.

Have you ever made a purchase that made you go "yaaaaas" in the fitting room, but once you get home it's more like "meeeeeeeh?" That's how these patterned trousers have made me feel. But once I started to dissect why I was feeling so "meh," I realised that it wasn't the trousers fault at all. My anxiety was trying to take over. And what do we stay to anxiety? "Not today, Satan. Not today."

These bellbottoms are SO COMFY you guys! They're basically super stylish leggings. And in traditional legging style, they hug every single curve and swerve on your body. For me, that meant a big ol' eyefull of major VBO. That's "visible belly outline" for those of you who aren't in the know, haha! Or in my case, VDBO, because I'm rocking the double belly something fierce.

The annoying thing is, I was feeling my look when I left the house in this outfit. I felt SO cool, and this was one of those outfits where Scott said I "really look like a blogger," which I think means I look particularly trendy, haha! I even felt great while we made our way into town. But then I started to notice little looks, and stares, and giggles, and snickers. That just has SUCH a way of breaking me down. This is my body! I'm not bothering you, why are you going out of your way to hurt me?

I know I should ignore these comments and stares. I know that I'm the only one that gives their stupid judgmental words the power to hurt me. But some days, I just don't have the strength to do that. The day that this all happened, I didn't even want to take the photos because I was feeling so rubbish. Thankfully Scott helped turn my mood around, and he warmed me back up to the idea of taking photos by taking some ridiculous couple selfies with my new selfie stick.

So I just want to say a special thank you to him, for always helping me through the tough times, and low self esteem moments. So please enjoy this gratuitous couple photo, and remember to be excellent to each other. Life's too short to make someone else feel bad about themselves.
