UK plus size fashion blogger AmandaApparel reviews her salon experience getting gel nail extensions and nail art in collaboration with Cutie Kills.
As you probably know thanks to my Instagram, I'm a HUGE fan of anything nail related. Stiletto nails, coffin nails, nail art, nail studs, kawaii nail bows, I just love it all! When Zara of Cutie Kills got in touch with me, I couldn't wait to stop by the salon! She is based in Medusa Hairdressing's Grassmarket location, which is very central and easy to get to.
Now, I have only ever had acrylic nail extensions in the past, but after getting gel extensions, I doubt I'll ever go back. With acrylics, a plastic tip is glued on, and then the acrylic goes over the whole nail and tip. With gel, the desired shape is formed (using the amazing cone looking guide stickers above) over the entire nail, with no bits glued on. This made the nails feel much more secure for me. I've not had any breaks or lifting at all. Seriously, how did I not try gel extensions sooner?!
At my first appointment I got these 100% luxury stone marble nails with a beautiful gold leaf finish. And as you can see in the picture above, I was FEELING IT, okay?! How can you get such a confidence boost from nails?! They looked absolutely incredible. I've seen other marble nails on Instagram, but (no shade) I really think Zara's technique has the most beautiful end result.
After 2.5 weeks with no breaking or lifting, I thought it would be nice to get a refresh and a fresh coat of paint. Honestly, I probably could have waited another week if not more, but I'm super impatient and like having new things! (Hey, at least I'm self-aware, right?) At my second appointment Zara created these Barbie Dreamhouse nails that I just adore. The triangle accents are gold studs, and the round accents are Swarovski crystals. Can you say L U X E?
I can't rave about Zara enough. I've recommended her to SO many friends, customers at work, even the girl at my local Boots when she complimented my nails! SO of course, I made it Facebook official. All 12 reviews have given her 5 out of 5 stars. If you're keen to stop by, have a look at her menu and price list. If you're looking for waxing or spray tan, she's also your girl!
