Tech Talk: Design Tools with Precision Printing

23 Aug 2016

UK plus size fashion blogger AmandaApparel shares her favourite design tools and tricks in this tech talk post in collaboration with Precision Printing.

When it comes to design, tools are absolutely necessary! I've got an arsenal of apps on my phone just to edit and publish posts on social media! Plus I have my preferred software that I use to design, edit, and publish these blog posts! Precision Printing are an award-winning printing service provider in the UK, and they've published a list of 30 tools that no designer can live without. I'm sharing my top 5 tools from that list!

As you may or may not know, I am an Apple girl through and through. My setup isn't as impressive as the one pictured, but I love my MacBook Air and my iPhone. Back in high school I was first exposed to the Mac OS while writing for the school newspaper. I loved how user friendly and creative the whole thing felt. When it comes to blogging, I absolutely couldn't do it without my MacBook.

I know there are other (ahem, more affordable) options for pocket notebooks, but I've been a big fan of Moleskines for years. They feel luxurious, ya know? And the ink in my pen NEVER bleeds through, which is a total plus. Several friends of mine use a Moleskine for their sketchbook, but I keep one in my bag to jot down notes/ideas/observations/etc.

Do you love typefaces as much as I do? Then you're gonna dig Typewolf for sure! SO many beautiful fonts are featured, and they're so lovely just to browse. Plus, if you've been watching Stranger Things on Netflix, you'll love their Stranger Things type generator!

I learned about Prezi during my first semester at uni. It's a VERY cool way of making dynamic, interactive presentations. Like, kiss powerpoint goodbye forever, you know what I mean? It's super functional on both Mac and PC, which is great because our uni computers are all PC. If you've never seen what Prezi can do, you should deff check it out.

Setting the perfect atmosphere is crucial when doing any sort of creative work, especially when you need to be really focused. My favourite way to set the mood is a great soundtrack. I'm super easily distracted, so noise-cancelling headphones are the way to go!
