UK plus size fashion blogger AmandaApparel shares her favourite plus size dresses, tops, skirts, and coats in this wish list post in collaboration with House of Fraser.
It is getting COLD out there, which means it’s time to update that wardrobe! House of Fraser have a wonderful selection of womenswear to keep you on trend and stylish no matter the weather. I’m impressed by the plus size range at HOF, actually! In the dress section alone there are 515 options ranging from £10 to £295 including brands like Studio 8, Evans, Chesca, and more.
This year I am VERY into occasion-wear, so I thought I’d start off with a nice casual day dress. I love the way the colours of the pattern interact with each other. I’d style this dress with black tights, black chelsea boots, and a camel trench.
It’s time to SPARKLE! The cut of this glitzy maxi is just stunning. I love the v neck and the ruching on the bodice. This look is all about glamour, so I’d style it with black heels, a bright red lip, and a festive up-do.
I am absolutely obsessed with this pattern! When I showed this to Bear he said “that is so YOU,” and I couldn’t agree more. This dress is lovely and would look fab for a smart office look. The colour palette means I’d lave loads of lippy options, but I’d likely wear that orangey red shade and pointy toed black flats.
Um, did I mention I’m obsessed with this pattern? The blouse offers more versatility than the dress. I could style it with a pencil skirt and heels for an elegant evening look, or with skinny jeans and pumps for a casual daytime look. As with the dress, I’d love all the lippy options that come with this pattern.
Aaaaaand now we have the classic Amanda monochromatic pieces haha! I think the sheer texture of this blouse is just lush. I also love how it’s like, black and cream rather than black and white so the contrast isn’t as stark. I’d style this with PU leggings and patent red flats for a cool edgy look.
This look screams PARIS, you know? Like, don’t mind me. I’ll just be here with a cappuccino and a croissant outside my local cafe, enjoying the weather. I need a beret, y’all! This would look fab with relaxed skinny blue jeans, black boots, and a nice little beret. Oui oui!
Yep, here we are maintaining the monochromatic vibes, haha! I’m such a sucker for dresses, and I really want to invest in more separates. These skirts would all serve different purposes for me. The Macey skirt would be a great office look, especially paired with an elegant white blouse and simple black boots.
The Persia skirt would be a perfect date night staple. I’d love to style it with an oxblood roll-neck jumper and flirty rose gold heels. I’d accessorise with a matching oxblood clutch and rose gold jewels. Makeup wise, I’d opt for a dark smoky eye and a simple, nude lip.
This pleated skirt is like, luxe casual. I think it would look so effortless and cool paired with a black band tee, an oversized camel cardigan, and white pumps. I’d add a chunky watch and a delicate layered necklace to make it a bit more girly, and maybe a bright red lip too.
I’m the first to admit that I’m not very into coats, but the three I’ve chosen are all divine! I am all about this bold orange/red shade. Most coats and jackets I’ve owned have been neutrals, but I’d love to branch out and try this beauty! I’d pair it with a brown faux fur hat, a matching scarf, and over the knee boots.
This is maybe a more practical coat, but it certainly isn’t boring! I really dig the belt illusion created by the colour blocking. I also appreciate how it’s the opposite of “slimming” garments. You know the ones. They’re black on the sides and have a colour/pattern in the middle to give the illusion of an hourglass figure? No thanks! I’d much prefer this look.
Okay, if I could choose only one of these three coats, it would HAVE to be this one! I’m such a sucker for pale pinks. I love the faux fur collar and the tortoise shell buttons are a gorgeous touch. I’d love to style this with matching tortoise shell glasses, a dark red lip, black tights, and perfectly coordinated patent pink oxfords. I can just imagine walking around the Christmas markets feeling so cosy and festive…can you smell mulled wine?
